One in four is actually
less than I would have thought. I read somewhere that more than 60% of the adult population in the US is considered overweight or obese (and I expect we're not far behind) which is my reasoning behind that.
I was too overweight to donate but because I'd lost lots already the transplant coordinator was happy to let me start testing ... it took me another year or so to get to where she wanted me, but I'm actually STILL overweight (I've maintained since I donated) according to the BMI charts, although I'm now smaller than the average size for women in the UK and people scoff when I truthfully say I'm still overweight. BMI charts annoy me muchly, as you can imagine!
