Hello All,
It has been close to 1 year since I've started dialysis.Inwhich I've started to HATE several times.Especially when I start to have those dang muscle cramps 2ward the end of my dialysis session.I've been told that I might need to have some physical therpahy to strenghten up my legs.Since that's where the musce cramps occur. On Monday,my boyfriend Thomas & I had to go to the UW medical center in Seattle,Wash. To meet with a social worker & one of the transplant surgeon. We are now waiting for the transplant team to decide whether or not I'll be on the transplant list. Both the social worker & the surgeon that we talked to are going to recommend to my kidney doctor that I have some physical therpahy for my legs.I will agreed I HATE those muscle cramps & the PAIN.It seems like the only times that my legs HURT are when I've dialysis. The staff have been told NOT to take alot of fluids off of me.
SLove & HUGS,
Sandi

PT can be really helpful. If they write a prescription for it, I encourage you to give it a try. I was getting PT when I started dialysis because I had been in the hospital too long and I was very weak. I hope it helps you.

Yes it can. Amazing how a few stretches can eliminate charley horses and nasty things like that in your body. Well worth the effort it takes to do them.
