It appears we may have finally gotten Frank's blood pressure until control. His neph put him on minoxidil and his primary doubled the dose. The last few times he was checked BP was around 126/63! It always ran in the 180's/90's. Yeah! :bandance; His birthday is on Sunday and this is a great present! Hopefully this will help slow the progression. He has labs next week so we'll see...

 :birthday;  Happy birthday Frank - what a great gift :clap;
Hopefully the docs got his meds right and his numbers will remain steady. :2thumbsup;
Holding good thoughts for next week's lab results.

This is GREAT news, Frankswife!  That is exactly what J takes when his BP gets real high.  He hasnt had high BP in a while, but once in a blue moon it will get high, and he takes 2.5mg tab (Minoxidil).  It does the job for sure, but he is only to take it if it is real, real high.
Again, its been a long time since that has happened.

Did his neph recommend it only when he has extra High B/P?

God Bless,

lmunchkin, Frank's BP was ALWAYS high. I'm talking to the point where his dentist refused to pull teeth because his pressure was like 212/101. So he's on a regular dosage of minoxidil, 10 mg a day I think it is. It really appears to be helping. We werent really told about side effects (other than his hair growing, which he doesnt need, lol) is there something we should be on the lookout for?

Wow, FW, that is extremely high for sure and probably smart that they have him on the High dosage (10mg) minoxidil.  J has been taking it for so long that I don't read the warnings at all, because he does fine with it.  Just read the side affects when you pick it up or ask your pharmacist what they are.

I think he will do fine, but that high is definately too high.  Im surprised he hasnt had a heart attack or stroke with those numbers.  Keep on top of it gal!  He is lucky to have you!

God Bless,
lmunchkin :kickstart;

P.S.  I wish it would grow hair on J, no such luck!!!  lol
