reminder: the importance of exercise

I'm just reminding people about the importance of exercise when you have renal disease.
I've been biking for about 2 weeks now, going out on 2 hours rides - 3-4 times a week and I feel amazing.
My blood pressure stay consistent, I dont feel tired between treatments, I have some much energy I feel like i could talk on the world.
I'm been on dialysis for almost 5 years, a few months ago i fell into a depression, because I found out I have a high level of anitbotics then most people . This means I might have to wait some time before a transplant. I've also found out the short daily program at my hosptial got cancelled, so I'm stuck on traditional hemo for a bit longer. I've also been physically active but not in a consistent fashion. I was also very weak, not feel great between treatments and getting frustrated with not being well or "normal".
So my boyfriend convinced me to by a bike. the best investment i made.
This is a just a remind for all dialysis patients - spent 30 mins a day and go for a walk or do something you enjoy, just get outside enjoy the sun and the nice weather and get your heart healthy.

Oh, I so wish I could do this. But with full time work, daily home hemo and having to take care of a household, exercise time is non-existent.
I'm hoping that with the latest sleep study (I have sleep apnea as well), I might be able to get a new machine/have mine reset so that I can start getting a better night's sleep and maybe I'll be able to drag my butt out of bed earlier to exercise before work. It just ain't gonna happen after work.

Guess you meant antibodies, not antibiotics.

Thanks for the reminder. I walk regularly, but it's getting harder and harder to keep it up and I keep being tempted to start slacking off instead of pushing myself. I need to keep pushing myself to keep it up.

Does running down the street to catch the ice cream truck count?

I should think that would get double the happiness quotient jbeany: the feelgood hormones in the blood from running + oxygen, and then the feelgood sugarhit + nostalgic hooray from the icecream.
Gregory is certain that his daily walk is the only thing keeping his kidney going at the moment. He even reported yesterday that he had headaches, went for a walk and they cleared up.

I've been getting more than enough lately with my house to work on. Moving from a second floor apartment to a house with a full basement and a second story also eliminates any need for a stair master this month.
I've got great calf muscles after 3 weeks of moving preparations!

I stopped work as of last Friday. Work was going to move me to a site about an hour from home, and with the schedule of PD I'm doing, that wasn't going to work. Went out on disability for the foreseeable future. But, that will give me time to start working out again. Going to pick that up this morning after I do my post cycler drain. Really looking forward to it!
