kana - it seems you have undergone kidney removal surgery and doing PD at present.

I'm interested in Peritoneal dialysis(no cathether placed yet)  My GFR is around 8ml and I'm very closer to starting
dialysis.

My pkd kidneys get constant cyst infection.  I'm planning for a single or double kidney removal,  after which I may decide to have the PD catheter placed.

does this kidney removal surgery affects the peritonial cavity or future PD catheter placement?
does kidney transplant surgery affects PD?

I heard that any abdominal surgery is likely to affect CAPD as it involves opening the stomach linings to get to the
kidneys.

Please share your experiences.

thanks

Not sure when Kana will see this.

It would be best to click on the person's name or Avatar name and then you can send them a PM (Personal message)
then it goes right to them.

I might be able to help. I'm on pd and will be getting both kidneys removed when I get a transplant. I asked if the kidney is sleepy can I still do pd and not hemo if I need dialysis. My neph said that should be possible just with smaller amounts because of the recent surgery. The kidneys are retroperitoneal (behind the peritoneum) and once the body has healed from the nephrectomy pd would resume as normal.
