My new nephrologist is concerned that I am allergic to too many medications (antibiotics).  I can't take PCN, or Sulfa, Cipro, or anything related to PCN.  He told me he is going to send me to an Infectious Disease Doctor, to get me desensitzed to the medications I'm allergic to.

Has anyone had this done?  Has anyone even heard of this??

I keep getting a flashback to The Princess Bride, when (Cary Elwes), the Dread Pirate Roberts kills Vizzini (Wallace Shawn) with the Iocaine powder. :Kit n Stik;  Am I going to fall over dead?

Well J goes to a Infectious Disease Doctor, who ended up being his Primary Care Doc. too.  He is not allergic to antibiotics, it was more or less, that as he kept haveing these infections, his body was immune to some antibiotics. They kept giving him different ones till they found one that works.

He hasnt had an infection since Feb 2010.  He is doing amazingly well, especially, since doing NxStage at home. No hospital stays is a BIG plus!!!! His doctors are very pleased with his progress and tell him so!

God Bless,

Well, all I can tell you is that my son was desensitized to allergies. They just gave him a combo of what he was allergic to, once they found out what it was and he had the shots on a lessening basis for treatment.
