Anyone heard of Proargi9?

Can't remember if we have ever discussed this.  This is supposed to be of help to people with kidney failure, and even those on dialysis.  A doctor here is promoting it.  Anyone know anything about it?

L-arginine is an amino acid produced naturally in your body and also found in whole grains, nuts, seeds, red meat, chicken and fish.  It's converted to nitric oxide in the body and has the effect of relaxing the blood vessels, so it lowers blood pressure and is helpful in coronary artery disease and erectile dysfunction.  For kidney patients, the effects most of interest are in transplant patients, to boost the effect of cyclosporine; also, for patients with some kidney function, to help remove toxins; and, in the form of a cream, to help improve circulation to the hands and feet.  It has some powerful effects and side effects, depending on the dose, so I wouldn't recommend taking it as a supplement without talking to your nephrologist about it first.  Hope this is helpful.

Sweet Juniper, just what I need Something to increase the excessive Cyclosporine induced facial/body hair growth.  No thanks...  What the doctor had to say in the YouTube video was interesting though.  It's my rudimentary understanding that having high blood pressure kills kidneys, so being able to relax the vessels with drugs such as ACE inhibitors (which I took for 11 years prior to progressing to Stage 5) are beneficial to preserving kidney function.  It would make sense that L-arginine or Proargi9 would have the same type of benefits since it also relaxes the vessels. Hmmmm...  I think I will ask about this at my next transplant clinic appointment.

P.S.  I just noticed that you can almost spell Rogaine using the letters of Proargi9...

I listened to the interview. Was it a little vague or is it my imagination that it came over as vague ?

It was not really mentioned whether or not “Proargi9” is recommendable for all kidney patients in ESRF
or whether it only assists patients with specific conditions in ESRF?

Has  “Proargi9” been approved by the government of the USA and has it been officially approved by any other country?

Are there published trials of this treatment for ESFR patients ?

Has any other specialist recommended this treatment or talked about it,
or is only by this doctor, the manufacturer or people who might be selling it ?
 
How about side-effects, i.e. in people with drug-intolerance and allergies like myself ?

Is there anyone on IHD taking “Proargi9” and how are they doing
and has their condition improved as a direct result of taking “Proargi9” ?
