My employer is switching insurance companies (the switch happened today 1/1/2012.
My question is my last dialysis treatment was yesterday 12/30/2011. Will yesterdays treatment be billed to my new insurance or my old one. The social worker wasn't in yesterday so I asked one of the techs who also handles a lot of the paperwork, she said she didn't know but it would probably be billed to my old insurance since it was a last minute treatment. Does anyone know?

I would think it would be billed to your old insurance.  Your old insurance was probably in effect until 11:59 PM on December 31st, 2011 and the new insurance probably took effect on 12:00 AM on January 1st, 2012.  So since your treatment was on 12/30, it would be billed to the old insurance.  I went through this a few years ago (not when I was on dialysis) and stuff from the previous year was still coming in on the old insurance well into January.
