Today my daughter was short of breath, rattly chest, feeling like crap and then vomiting started.  The fear that it was going to be the start of dialysis was tremendous.  Funny how the diagnosis of pneumonia can be a "good" thing.  Is there a way to not panic and know for sure?  Her creatin is high at 6.2, but she has been feeling good until today.  Thanks for listening.

Those all sound like high toxin symptoms of renal failure.  So, you did the best thing.  Go get labs done.  At her stage it could be any day or months away.  The two to look at are creatinine and potassium.

Funny thing is when you start dialysis they never look at creatinine again.  It just isn't in the picture anymore.

Oh Jeez, if I so much as break a nail, I'm convinced it's because my kidneys have finally imploded.  I have been officially "pre-dialysis" for seven very long years, and the fear never, ever goes away.  Your mind just immediately goes to the worst case scenario, and I for one haven't yet found a way to keep the panic at bay.  I do feel for you. :cuddle;

I hope your daughter gets over the pneumonia soon.  Best wishes to her and to you!
