Throbbing spine pains?

Do any of u experience this??
I have been having a very painful throbbing, like heartbeat, pain down my spine, especially my lower back area....
It happens mostly when "resting" sitting or lying down, but has been as well as standing...
It is really painful and uncomfortable, it isnt constant, but seems to be getting more frequent over the past 24hrs
im hoping to talk to my dr today about it, which means i maaaaay get to talk to him in a week or two LOL if im lucky!

Could it be a bulging disc, pressing on a nerve?  These can be irritatingly painful and the exercises that help are to strengthen the internal abdominal muscles...not difficult exercises but must be done very regularly.  The lower vertebrae are most often affected but discs can bulge or even rupture anywhere along the spine, even up into the neck.

Monrein is right.  It could be the discs.  AlohaBeth has had bulging discs and herniated discs since she was 18.  She went through PT and still does the exercises to strengthen the muscles around the spine.  Long plane trips, different beds, overdoing, lifting will trigger hers.  She is frozen with pain and lays on the floor to help it.    Kidney failure doesn't help our bones.    Have you talked to the doctor yet?     I'll check on you in a day or two.  I hope it calms down and you feel better.

i went to d, they sent me to the ER, due to the pain, and a low grade fever...
They gave me a shot of steriods and a shot for pain, took my tiny bit of urine, said everything looks fine, i may have a slight infection. sends me back to d.
while at d my doctor actually comes in and he said "oh u have back pain?" yes "is this new" yes ive never had back pain before unless i like lift wrong or whatever and it wasnt like this... "Ok I dont know what to tell u" uh the er dr said it was an infection "Not likely, ur blood cells are barely elevated, i dont know what to tell u" and he walked away.

so needless to say, i know nothing more than i did, and add a frustration to it. i dont really know what to do. all they did in ER is take my urine? they didnt even look at my back hardly, he was more concerned when he poked my side and i flinched because it hurt. but still no answers.
i know from seeing a chiropractor a few years ago that my spine is very curved, like a ?, aand my neck is "on backwards" but like i said, ive never had back pain.

When I had a lot of trouble with three "slipped disks" (whatever they call it these days) a physio gave me core strengthening exercises.  I was really in trouble for a long time, I had to lay on my back, couldn't get upstairs, this went on for months. But gradually over time, by doing these excercises and also with heat bags and some other stuff he did, I came good.  Thank gawd.  I was like an old woman, scarcely able to move around.  The excercises were like, I had to lay on my back and then um

Later, walking helped, and still helps.

I figure, I may as well post these thoughts; if your problem is not about needing "core strength" then I guess you wont do yourself any harm with this very mild exercise.  And if it is related to core strength, well maybe it would help.

I meant to add, I hope it comes right, spinal pain is so debilitating.  Oh and try heat bags / hot water bottles, they make a big difference for me so if yours is spinal they might help a bit.

Could you see a Physiotherapist?  There is no quick fix for disc or other spinal issues and your neph will be helpless ,other than to make a referral to an Orthpedic specialist. You need to find out if there is a structural problem and where it is exactly...as in which vertebra or vertebrae...L4, L5, etc.  If you have some scoliosis or spinal curving as you said, this can complicate matters more.  Back pain is awful and can just grind you down over time...I hope you can get some help with this. Nat's suggestions are good but you still need to pinpoint the problem so you can target it directly.

Yes, I agree with Monrein, if you can see a physiotherapist, do!  And if it is spinal, and the Physio gives you exercises, remember it takes time to build up the muscle tone and start to feel the benefits.

it feels better today, not nearly as painful, its just a dull pain. maybe i did just overdo?
i still intend on doing research for a dr about it, because that was nearly too much to handle!
i just "love" how drs want to pump u full of pain pills and thats it. I dont like them, id rather know whats up and take care of it.
My neph is also my normal dr, and he seems to me to be a pill pusher, everytime ive mentioned a pain, he simply offers pain meds.... no ass i want a diagnosis if there is one to be had!
Thank you for ur ideas, and i will def be searching for some dr that actually wants to find out the cause.

im still not quite up to par, but its better than it was.
i go for surgery tues, so im hoping after i have a forced rest ill be lots better.
