PD Cath insertion - tomorrow

I am newbie to the forum. Glad to have found this site!
I am scheduled to have my PD cath insertion tomorrow.
Any inputs is certainly appreciated - your experiences.

Just got back from the hospital for my PD cath. I was awake the whole time. I did not have any sedatives (my choice). It was done using an XRay machine(?). I had an incision about 2 inches and another hole for my cath's exit site. The flush went OK. The freezing meds is now starting to wean off. But I can tolerate it. I decided not to take any pain relievers. The thing is the catheter seems to be wandering around my tummy and feels like it is poking all my intestines specially my bladder. And I feel air moving around on my belly as well. Are these things normal?

They probably had to "blow you up" with gas (nitrogen I think) to give them room to operate. It will take several days for all of that to work itself out of your system. I was under general anesthesia so it was several hours before I really started to feel anything. Don't be too proud to take pain meds because they helped me a lot...and I usually have a very high pain tolerance. You will feel twinges here and there while the cath gets friendly with your intestines. I had a lot of pressure in my rectal area and still do some after almost 4 months. But it has lessened considerably. For the first week or two the larger incision (not the cath exit site) is what hurt the most.

You are right wills. It is gas. I kept on farting  ;Good sign. But the gas is still moving around until now. Any ideas how to get rid of this gas totally?
