Hello everyone,
Just got the letter from the hospital to say my husband is being considered for antibody removal so he can have my kidney. The information about the procedure was a bit scary -  it is a relatively new procedure here in the UK.
Has anyone got first hand knowledge of this - so we can make an informed choice.  (My husband is currently on CAPD following more than twenty years as a type 2 diabetic.)
All the best,
Kay :waiting;

Sorry not first hand. They tell me they'll do it for me eventually. However I watched my niece have plasmapharesis in the hopes of removing antibodies for a different reason. It resembled dialysis more than anything. She had a central line and her blood went through a machine and some of her blood was replaced with donated. I can't remember if it was the plasma. Also she got IV Ig to help with the antibodies. One unit of that is made from donations of 1000 people. But for the person receiving it it's just an IV. Good luck with it. Let us know what happens.
