Yeah one lucky guy got to try it ! But in general its not available yet !

I have seen many announcements since 2009 about NxStage and Kimal partnering in the UK - only one guy has tried it?
Here's the company info - maybe they could tell you more about availability http://www.kimal.co.uk/nx-stage-home-haemo.htm

Would you opt for home hemo if you had a training partner?

Do you know im not sure because if i did i would probably become a recluse ! Hemo is the only thing that gets me out of the house. Not because im lazy or anything but doing stuff on your own isnt that much fun.

I can understand that.  My mom hated having to go to a clinic, but she did rather enjoy the company.

You had a good period of time, as I recall, where you were able to go horseback riding - is that something you could go back to?

Does anyone know why someone who is on a list for transplantation can go to a clinic for hemo dialysis, but not recommended for hemo at home?

Oh i ve thought about that loads. The trouble is its far to expensive now for me . I dont want lessons as im as qualified instructor myself and to hire a horse for half a day trekking is nearly as expensive as keeping your own. Nothing in the UK is cheap as far as horses are concerned.

Not to hijack KS's post - but munchkin, there's a lot more involved in doing your own hemo treatments than there is in taking care of your transplant.  You have to have the space to the machine and supplies, the physical ability to handle the supplies, the ability to keep the area as clean and sterile as possible, the coping skills to handle the needles and treatment care, and usually, a spouse or partner who is willing and able to do the process with you.
