Oh my goodness, that's great! Congrats...how's he doing? I'm just getting on this roller coaster...haven't even met my neph yet so I don't even know what's wrong with me yet. But I was wondering if age could rule out transplant. So thanks for sharing.

I am 62 and 5 months post transplant. Last summer, I asked the neph. what the cut off age was. I had been on the list 5 years with was starting to lose hope. Each center is different, but their answer to me was "We'll discuss this when you reach 80!". That gave me great hope. Good luck on the process. It is so worth all the stress, worrying, and testing.

I read a report by NICE (UK) that the NHS should not normally undertake transplants for patients over 60. So winter can count herself lucky that she resides in Canada.

Yep.
When I had my kidney transplant on January 26, I had a semi-private hospital room. My roommate was 66 years old, and had COPD too from having been a heavy smoker. He got his kidney transplant just a week earlier.
