WARMER~! Found a great warming tool if you freeze at dialysis

Is it me or do they have the AC on year round at dialysis centers? Yeah, probably me. Instead of freezing during treatment, I looked for any kind of portable heater to throw in my sack. Nothing I saw lasted long enough, including those chemical hand warmers, the back wraps, microwave bags. Pretty much everything else had a plug.
I found something. Don't laugh, it works. There is a pet warmer that gets heated in the microwave for a few minutes and lasts at least 10 hours! It's called SNUGGLESAFE and it keeps me toasty. The contraption is a hard plastic disc. Mine came with a fleecy cover. 5 minutes in the micro and it's ready. So far, I've placed it on my tummy and hugged it, on my chest, and behind my back which worked the best for me. Wasn't uncomfortable at all. Amazon sells them for under $30. I feel so pampered!

If I'm cold I raise the dialysate temperature. I usually put it up 1 1/2 degrees C.

that sounds pretty awesome.. that would be good for when I"m travelling.. cuz my unit is the only one I've been to that has heated blankets.. I'm told that it's because of a patient donation.. the unit I go to in Manhattan doesn't even have blankets

I was sweating like a stuck pig while I am on the machine until I found out about the temp adjustment that was available. Profile two, temperature low for me.

I really hate to be a kill joy on the whole " raise the dialysate temperature" idea, but the treatment works best at the lower dialysate temp. One of the lower cost things that our training nurses recommend is one of those Space Blankets. Cheap and fold up small to take with you easily.

Thank you for recommending this, FineWhine!! I bought one for my father (he's on dialysis) and he uses it at every session. He loves it. Sometimes uses it at home as well.
He made me laugh when he called to let me know it had arrived in the mail. The first thing he said after opening it was, "Pat, do you know this is something that people use to keep, uh, rabbits and things warm?"
I'm thinking about buying him another one to have on hand in case the first one wears out. Thanks again.

P.S. Fine Whine, someone in my father's dialysis clinic wants to order one of those warmers for himself. Maybe we should buy stock in the company.
