I have been on CAPD the night cyler for 3 months.  Does anyone experience extreme muscle fatigue and cramping?  When I go to the gym I find that it takes me 4 or 5 days to recover after a workout, rather than 2 days previously.  I am taking protein supplements daily, up to 100 grams of protein daily because my albumin level is low.  I also take a weekly injection of Procrit.

I am frustrated because my energy level is so depleted, that normal, everyday tasks sometimes become difficult.  Anybody have any ideas?

I have the same problem w/working out with weights.

I resolve it by drinking some diluted gatorade at least 1 hour before the workout.  The gatorade comes in powered form so I usually don't take the full strength, however the sugar in gatorade does help deliver the fluid into your muscles.    Also I use whey protein as a supplement.

Seems to help with dehydrations issues.  I still pee at 100% and I really dislike salt, so dehydration can be an issue for me.

When my BP goes too low, I feel my muscles burn....

I am also 61 and should start facing the fact that I won't recover as well as I used to, but I still think I'm in my 30's....

Ha, ha!  Don't we all think we should still perform the same as we did when we were 30?   :lol;

Don't forget muscles need energy.
People on dialysis need about 35 calories per kilogram of body weight per day.

Treatment: Tue-Thur-Sat   5.5 hours, 2x/wk, 6 hours, 1x/wk
Dialysate flow (Qd)=600;  Blood pump speed(Qb)=315
Fresenius Optiflux-180 filter--without reuse
Fresenius 2008T dialysis machine
My KDOQI Nutrition (+/ -):  2,450 Calories, 84 grams Protein/day.
