I have read that mandarins are relatively low in potassium. Can anyone please confirm this before I gorge myself on this lovely fruit? TIA

Like anything on dialysis.  Moderation is the key.  You could have 1 or 2 between dialysis sessions.  But then no watermelon or cantaloupe.  Mix and match.

But then no watermelon or cantaloupe.  Mix and match.  ??? Why is this too much water content?

Potassium.

Everyone on dialysis should know their daily recommendation - I know that when hubby was in-center he was told to limit potassium to 1000 mg/day.  Potassium is the most critical thing to watch in your diet.  Fortunately, it's also removed very quickly by dialysis.

Since he's been on home hemo, although the dietician won't technically give him a higher potassium limit, we don't pay nearly as much attention to it as the build-up over two days is not as much as over three, and removing it every day keeps it lower anyway.
