    When I was being dialyzed on Wednesday my bp drop to around 79/49. The tech had turned my machine off. I tell every new tech or nurse that my bp drops whenever I fall asleep. I was somewhat furious that they didn't take the fluids that I requested. My machine was off for about 1/2 hour. If she would have asked another tech who knows that my bp recovers when I wake up, she would have woke me up and warn me. Usually I stay up after I am woken.
Some techs even give me saline without telling me. I like to be notifies when that want to do anything on the machine like turning off or giving me any fluids.

The techs and the nurses know not to do anything without discussing it with me first.  They show me all meds that are pushed.  I check the labels and verify my name and the contents.  Keep insisting and they will come around.

I know some of the techs are just starting and I don't blame them for not knowing, its sometimes the one or two techs that don't give a d*mn. I am not a complainer most of time and I get along with most of them except when I have them. The worst thing about is that they are the ones who train the new techs. Some of the better tech tell the new techs to listen to the patient, he would know move about their bodies. There is one thing I have learn about is profiles.

Well went fairly well, I did have a new tech. He came from the other D clinic in town. Although he was very quick in putting me on I am afraid of his technique in putting in the needle. He is pretty rough doing it. I will have to mention it to him when I have him again. During treatment I asked the med. nurse about profiles. I never knew about them until today. She explained that there are about 8 different ones on the machine. One profile takes fluids off in the beginning and taper off, another one starts taking it off slowly in the beginning and by mid treatment it is taking the fluid at its max. There are other profiles that are on there. I asked what profile I was on and she told me that the profile I was on doesn't introduce sodium during the treatment and I have my fluids taken off at an even rate through out my time on the machine. I am glad I came to IHD because now I know one thing more about my treatment.
