Or just get an EKG or Ecocardogram done (ultrasound of the heart) that will tell them if something is wrong.
Moved to General Discussion - Rerun Moderator** I don't know if this should be posted in Off topic or Dialysis:General but if this is in the wrong place, please move to where ever cuz I just can't figure it out **Didn't post this in any dialysis section as my pain started on a NON-dialysis day so it might not be related.
I agree with all the posts above - go to the ER and get an EKG. It could be something as simple as indigestion, or a number of things. It could also be stress from not getting sleep too. Are you by any chance UNDER your target weight? You could also be alittle dehydrated. But the EKG is your first line of action. It could even be alittle heart pain from missing your fiance! Tee-hee-hee.
Chest pains aren't something to fool with. If you have them you go to the ER immediately. It could be nothing but then again it could be a heart attack in progress. Having it checked out is far better than checking out.
Angie, you have been on dialysis a long time, like me. In fact much longer than me so, I recommend that you insist on an "Echo". Believe me you do not want to get to be in A-Fib like me. Plus you worrying about it just makes it worse, believe me. Do yourself a favor and insist on an "echo" it's a 10 minute pain free test. - Epoman
I would be willing to bet you that your chest pain and back pain are a direct result of you not getting enough rest. If you're not getting the proper sleep and rest periods, you're depleting your energy resources more than they already are depleted. If you felt chest pains after dialysis I would also bet that it's not your potassium because potassium is leached in dialysis - phosphorus is not. I know this because when I feel like having an orange I do it just before I dialyse. To be safe, I would mention it to the doc - we all know that dialysis is not really kind to the heart.
