I'm finally back after quite awhile away from IHD, so I thought I'd see how things are going. I've been sick off and on for the last few months, and very sick for the last month, including almost two weeks in the hospital with a nasty infection and severe GI problems, malnutrition and dehydration. I'm just now starting to get better. I'm going to try to stop in here a little bit more often to see how the IHD family is doing.

Thanks everyone. I feel kind of bad that I haven't been checking in, because I know we all try to look out for each other here. But I haven't felt so sick since I first started dialysis. It all hit its climax about two and a half weeks ago when I collapsed at church from what turned out to be dangerous malnutrition and dehydration. With the GI problems I had been having, I had hardly been able to eat for a month. About half way to the hospital, I completely crashed in the ambulance. The last thing I heard was the medic say "Oh sh*t! we have an emergency!" (not something you want to hear when you're in an ambulance) I regained full consciousness about a half hour later in the ER, and they admitted me for about a week. And that was just two days after I got out of the hospital after my graft became infected. I got so depressed, I was actually having DAILY anxiety attacks to the point where they sent a mental health doctor to talk to me. He had to end up ordering daily doses of Ativan to relax me. I had never felt so bad. But it's good to be feeling better, and to be back here.

Hospital visits and sickness can sure take it out of you mentally. I hope you are on the way out of the Pit of Despair you found yourself in.
