I have to insisions where they put my graft in a week ago, one on my arm where the elbow bend is and the other under the armpit. The one at the elbow bend will sometimes discharge this clear watery type liquid. I had my dialysis center look at it and they said it was fine for it to do this the liquid was not of the infection type that it was just water from the site and everything looked good. My question is have any of you had this issue? I rememgber my last graft did not have any drainage at all so I'm just concerned.

May 20, 2009, started dialysis with a groin cath
May 25, 2009, permacath was placed
august 24, 2009, was suppose to have access placement but instead was admited to hospital for low potassium
august 25, 2009, access placement
January 16, 2010 thrombectomy was done on access

I have never seen this problem with my patients but I have had cuts and incisions on me and they drained. My doctor told me it was just lymph fluid. Make sure that you keep it clean and routinely check the drainage to make sure it doesn't turn yellow. Also alert your nurse if it turns red, has warmth coming from it, or if the swelling gets worse.

I've not had this kind of problem.  I would keep a close eye on it and let you dr know of any changes.  Good luck and take care.

Our d charge nurse says it's yellow but isn't red or warm. They are keeping a close eye on it.

hey Troy,
 The liquid is just a way the body heals itself, just keep the dressings dry, but again keep a close eye on it, inform your team immediatly if discharge changes...keep strong and alot of other people are here for you buddy...wolfken
