Right now I'm snacking on saltines topped with little pieces of shaved Parmegiano Reggiano Stravecchio - 3-year aged parmesan. Really good. And I haven't had cheese in so long.

okay, i just received my food network magazine, what a mistake that was.  they showed a recipe for a pb&j wrap.  a flour tortilla smeared with peanut butter and jelly, wrapped around a whole banana.  good Lord almighty, save me!

I used to make choc/banana smoothies all the time before the ESRF, using chocolate sustagen which is high in K also.
I crave chips, salt n vinegar. I remember the days i could eat what i liked.

The only bananas I eat are the candy ones (100% sugar!). I have the odd fix of S&V chips sico... all you need to do is take a binder if it really worries you. I reckon life is for living not just existing so if you can't treat yourself with things you like every so often then what's the point?

my brother mad one my grandmother's old recipes tonight, it was a soup made with a chuck roast, then he shredded the roast into a salad with lots of onions and vinegar.  it was good, but not as good as grandma used to make.  Of course, now I have heartburn like you wouldn't believe!

Marti, that sounds interesting. Was it pretty much a pot roast, shredded over a regular green salad? The only times I've ever had beef on a salad, it was sliced steak.

no.  kind of hard to describe.  but, after the meat was taken out of the soup, it was shredded, like you would do pulled pork for barbecue, then mixed with slice onions and a little oil and a lot of vinegar.  No lettuce, just the meat and onions.

Yeah, i eat the soft candy bananas at times (that's a treat). I avoid chips all together though, as my potassium is always on the high side. I don't think i clear it with the PD real good. I love tomatoes, but don't buy them. For the same reason.

Luckily my potassium is almost always in the 4.6-5.0 range which is not so bad so I can afford the odd indulgence. The worst thing is worrying about if you've had too much of this or that, and at least with phosphates you can have another binder, but for K there's next to nothing so you have to be extra careful.

I just saw this. I was half-planning a grocery swap with an Aussie early last year, but never saw it through. It seems like something really fun. TimTams, Jaffas, all kinds of exotic ramen.

Huh. Did you eat it hot, or cooler? That sound like it would be really good as a sandwich with some hot sauce or barbecue sauce. Or even gravy.
