It is the changeover form Fosrenol.  Can you go back to it?  Or are you stuck?

Must be common goofynina, I suffered same symptoms with Renagel, until I went over to Phoslo.

I'm not on the same meds as you but some days I get it so bad when I swallow I feel severe pain in my sternum area and it feels like I'm going to blow up. I had pancreatitus once and thats about how bad it gets. So sorry to hear that your experiencing this problem hope the Doc can help you get adjusted to your new meds. Take Care

I also get bad heartburn, I never knew it may be caused from Renegal... never pu 2 and 2 together.... I used to take PhosLo but they switched me to Renegel cuz my phosphorus was high, but its still high... maybe I should just switch back, if its gona remain high I would rather be heartburn free.  :lol; Thanks for the info, hope your feeling better.

I take phoslo and prevacid for the hearburn.  I've had heartburn since I was 16. (give or take a few yrs.)  I throw up when the heartburn is really bad.  For some reason when I wake up in the morning then stand up, the heartburn hits real quick.  Thats when I usually throw up.  YUCK....some days I have to take 2 prevacid,. just depends on how early i take the first one.

I thought phoslo was a phoshorus binder? At least thats what i took it for... I never heard of taking phoslo for heartburn... is this true? If so, i got a cabinet full and I shall take some when i get heartburn, maybe my phosphorus will go down too..  :lol;

My side effects list says the phoslo can cause the heartburn, not treat it.  Nausea is a common side effect, too.

Exactly, mine too... thats why I asked, cuz he said he takes it FOR heartburn.

Tubes takes prevacid for the heartburn.

Renagel may cause heartburn because it may also cause your CO2 to drop below normal.  This, in turn, may cause acidosis.

I get this too and have also had an ulcer and severe inflammation diagnosed after vomiting blood. My consultant also switched me to Nexium as I was having to have very high doses of the other usual ones and he thought this might help. So far so good. :)

My husband had heartburn too.  Didn't realize it was the renagel until he stopped taking them when he started nocturnal.  Phos on nocturnal is not a big problem .  When he gets off the machine in the morning it is below normal.  He now eats what ever he wants.  If it is something that he knows has a lot of phos like cheese whiz he will wait until he is hooked to the machine to eat it so that it will come off during treatment.

I've been having the heartburn lately which is unusual for me.
I take Phoslo.
The other night I got sick it was so bad.
When I have it I sort of crave milk.
Will have to try nexium or something like that I guess.

I used to be on nexium but it was getting hard to get a script for the high dose i was on. I changed to acimax (omeprazole) which is virtually the same and I think its cheaper, and I now never get heartburn or reflux. There are others that are much the same, losec, somac etc.

I got some that was the Kroger brand like pepcid ac.
It was less expensive.  It did seem to help.
