While i was at dialysis today i heard an interesting question. (Those of us on hemo get heparin like it or not) and the guy across from me asked could he have the Heparin that didnt make your hair thin ! Anyone shed any light on this? I know some of you have mentioned the condition of your hair. The answer to his request was ..yes! now im sure we would all that that option.

Kickstart,
My husband's hair is already VERY thin. But we haven't noticed any change in it over the year and a half that he has been on hemo.

I thought it was the anti-rejection drugs that were so hard on the hair.

Take care.

According to what I have read on the internet drug information sites, loss of hair is a possible side effect of long term use of heparin. Google heparin, and you will see many sites that can provide much more detailed information.

I am glad that you posted what you did. I have been losing my hair and now it makes sense.

Of course you could be like me and have to take lots of Monoxidil (aka Rogain) for my high blood pressure, which makes hair grow all of my body!!!! Even with the Heparin. I wish they would cancel each of out so I could just be normal!!!!  :rofl;

     And I just thought I was getting older or something.  :rofl; :rofl;   Had no idea about  heparin causing hair loss.  Well, that explains why I'm getting thin on top I guess.  Thanks!  :thx;
