Hello everyone, I am new here and thought I would share a little about me.I have stage 4 Igan kidney failure. I am pre dialysis with a GFR of 15. I am married to Kevin my husband of 25 years. He is a great support to me and honestly I dont know how I would cope without him. I had a fistula put in my arm last week and wow is it sore! I am also having uremic symptoms,anemia.fluid buildup,extreme fatiuge. I am so glad I found this site and looking forward to making friends who understand what its like to have this dreadful disease.Sometimes it gets lonely. :waving;

KICKSTART, I love your sense of humor! I do have a question,has anyone experienced numbness and tingling in arms and legs.I get this everyday and it starts out as feeling like I have a fever,chills,then the tingling,then numbness and weakness.Could it be part of uremia? It is a very scary feeling!

If I can jump in here:

Yes, the tingling could indicate uremic neuropathy.  Or neuropathy from some other cause, like diabetes.

You should tell your neph about it, and ask your neph if you're getting adequate dialysis.  There are also meds that can help.  I take 300 mg Neurontin (gabapentin) every evening at bedtime, and it has totally relieved those tingling and pins-and-needles feelings I had before.

Thanks RightSide, that makes sense to me. I am pre dialysis but am having a lot of uremic symptoms. I will ask my neph. That pins and needles feeling is horrible!

It is horrible.  The best thing to do is start dialysis sooner rather than later, and see if you can get some of those symptoms to subside.

Welcome.

Just got an email from my neph. I do have uremic neuropathy and they want to start me on medication for it. I find it odd it didnt start until I had my fistula built last week.
