So for those folks who do not know about IHD's get togethers and are afraid of them, here is what happens....

We arrive in Vegas on our own.
We usually  stay in the same hotel so if we want to hang together we can.
We usually meet and greet each other.
Last year we went to dinner on Friday night and had a huge rib dinner and gambled a bit. We talked and laughed.
Saturday we all did our own thing until we gathered together at the Olive Garden and had the offical IHD.com dinner.  Speakers and prizes and talking and fun.
Most of us took off down Fremont Street to go get a fried Twinkie. We gambled and walked and talked and saw the lights and sights!
Sunday we pretty much do our own thing. Talk, laughed, had breakfast andthen said good byes to good, new/old friends!

It is a lot of fun!

Please think about coming.  The Sahara is a beautiful casino/hotel. It is one of the older hotels on the strip, so a lot history is there.
The room rate is reasonable for the group at 66 dollars for a weekend night on the strip in Vegas.

I look forward to seeing everyone who is coming!

Again I cannot make it this year - daughter getting married and all.  I am so hoping to be there next year.  My son lives in Vegas now and it would be a great "....  two birds with one stone"......
Once again IHD family - I am sure a good time will be had by all.

Please put "maybe" next to my name... I've had some family issues crop up and I may have to stick around in case of emergency here... I'll have to wait until closer to the date to make a decision. Sorry!

Most of us took off down Fremont Street to go get a fried Twinkie. We gambled and walked and talked and saw the lights and sights!

Check out my avatar, that's what happened on the way to the fried twinkies.

Fried twinkies you ask? Who would have thought something sounding so bad would be so GOOD! Yes!

And then there was the Laker preseason game at UNLV - $20 tickets, good seats and excellent company - aharris2 and okarol.

And then it was time to leave, but first dialysis for me and breakfast for aharris2 and okarol. I'm at dialysis and they're eating homemade pumpkin bread and 5-egg omelets!  :'(
(That Friday night rib dinner - finger licking good right up to my elbows  :beer1; and nice slots!)

Plus there is alot more to do in Vegas..... like Valley of fire, Red Rock canyon, Mt. charleston, Bonnies hot springs, North shores of lake mead ( if your into cliff diving), Rogers hot springs, climbing Sunrise Mountian...(  might be too hot right now for that.... forget that)...

Well  those are just a few of the off the beaten path......

Yes I use to live there... went to high school in Henderson Nv.... we use to hitch hike out to the lake sometimes when we would skip school.....

Vegas is fun no matter what you like to do.....

Sorry, but at this point, it looks like we are not going. Too many other things are breaking down, requiring our wallets. But, since one never knows what could happen, will you post where the dinner will be on Sat., and maybe we can make the drive up . We can always pick up a room at Stateline if we have to. I am bummed. Take lots of pics, willya guys?

I think I'm going to pass this year  :'( :'( :'( :'(  - but I'm not happy about it!    I have to get my little kidney back in order.  This drain bag will be in for another three weeks and then I'm supposed to get my stent back in.  At least then I'll have more mobility.  I'm terrified of ripping this thing out!

We are also moving throughout Sept and we are in need of some money in that department because we are building a deck and having to get some new furniture and all (bought a new bedroom set today - my first full, matching bedroom set in my entire life, btw!   :yahoo;)

I AM, however, going to start working on a San Antonio Meeting!  I think the Spring will be perfect!!!    Does March 2010 sound good to all who would like to come to San Antonio?  March or April.

Kitkatz, I'll go back to older threads to remind myself what's been talked about and decided on then I'm going to start calling around to hotels and such.  It would be awesome if we could get a weekend double pass to Six Flag Fiesta Texas and Sea World.  Total blast!  Send me a PM if you need to!!!!!!!!

Hey, why don't you plan a meeting in Newfoundland and everybody come to see the beautiful scenery!! LOL!!  Wish I could come and meet some people but it is a "little" too far.  I have never been on an airplane before and have no desire to get on one!! If we could drive there in a few hours we would be there!!  Hope you all have a great time!!

Please take me off the list. =(  sadly!

My nephew has just started the evaluation for a cord blood transplant and if everything goes well, he will be admitted on the 28th of sept. for 7-10 days of chemo and then the transplant. He will be in the hospital for at least 6 weeks and then he'll have to live near the hospital for up to a year. I am not planning any trips right now just in case I have to get to the hospital quickly.

I hope I can make next years or a Texas meeting!
