 I started dialysis around 8 am this morning, at 9 am my line starts pulling. I can feel where the line is trying to suck up the flow, it starts to pulsate visibly. This has been happening for 3 weeks now. They can't get much fluid off cause my blood volume drops to 60% within the first hour. The Dr. tells me I must of put body weight on I says no, I know I'm drinking 1.5 Lt daily, and if their only getting 2.9 off it all adds up.  The Dr. has increased my dry weight 2.8kilos and now I feel like crap, my belly is swollen out I lose my breath faster, no energy whatsoever. What do you do when they can't get at the fluid?

i know it's difficult, but for a while you might benefit from cutting back on your fluid intake. from 1.5 liters to one liter, for instance. and make absolutely sure that any food you consume is sodium-free.

I'll try to cut back on the fluid, everything else reads normal. I follow a low sodium diet and feel good other then being so heavy laden with the fluid. Thank you for all your input

Exercise can help increase your circulation, and that can make it easier to pull fluid.

If you still have periods, your hormones are going to make you retain fluid once a month that no amount of dialysis can pull off, too.  I usually have to add .3 to .5 to my dry weight for a week, then drop back down after.

I found that when I cut my sodium intake below 1,000 mg a day, it made managing fluid much, much easier.  Now my sodium intake is only 800 mg a day, if that.

Sweat it off.  Either exercise or try sitting in a sauna for a few minutes.  I go sit in my hot car but I know that is probably not a good suggestion.

                                                                :waving;

You might ask your clinic or doctor for an extra day on dialysis only pulling fluid.  I think they call it a PUFF.
