In da House.

« on: June 02, 2009, 11:13:44 AM »

I think our summer has finally arrived ..phew its hot for here !  :ukflag; Like most im not used to this heat ! How are other Brits coping ?  I cant sleep at night despite a fan , im off my food and the heat has just floored me to the point of feeling exhausted (not being at my best to start with right now) Ive just been up stairs and nearly had to get there on my knees ! I can cope with the fluid side of things , its just the heat is knocking me out ! :boxing;

Weatherbug says 75 F in London (24 c.).  Where are you?  It's 90 (33 c) at the moment in Houston...  Stay put.

It's a lovely day here - 77 F and soft breeze. Nice change as we've had 10 days of "June Gloom" (or "May Gray" since it started in May) which is overcast and cool - I am happy to see the sun!

I envy you people who have four seasons.  In Houston, we have 3 weeks of winter and 49 weeks of summer.

Well, We live in New Mexico, (hey!, What are all these Americans doin' running around here?) In Albuquerque. It get's hot here during the deep summer. (It must not be deep summer yet because it's 10 am and the temp. is 65 degrees) In the afternoon 3pm - 6pm it can get up to 105 - 106, even more. BUT! at night it cools down quite substantially and the humidity is very low and a fan can cool you down. WE moved from Houston where the humidity was 90 percent all the time. A fan wouldn't do anything. So far this year, I haven't been uncomfortable yet.

It is usually the opposite here 49 weeks of winter and 3 weeks of summer!!!  What else can you expect when you live on an island in the north atlantic!!!  It was over 20 celcuis here today but back down to about 5 tonight with a risk of frost.

I'm from Houston. The temp and Humidity is why we left. I'm 60 and in the early 50s there wasn't A/C at our house. But we got A/C in about '55. I don't know how we survived it. Before we left in 2002 our electricity bill during the summer was $245+.  The temp here now is 86 deg. It's 7:15 pm. But the humidity is 15%. Earlier we had the cooler on, but it got too cold, had to turn it off. The people here think it's hot but compared to Houston, It aint.
