Hey grumpy, just a vibrator and brokenpole's pole now, lol. He had a chest catheter put in and started dialysis at the hospital while they are waiting for the fistula to heal. The chest catheter bothers him sometimes, and we;ve been afraid to have any "fun" since he started the dialysis. He has had 3 hemo treatments at the dialysis center here so far.

SmokingBeaver - Would like to know later when he has been on D for a while, if his sex drive and physical capabilities decrease.  It happened to me and I'm wondering if D does that to everyone or just me.  Grumpy

Just pointing out that Viagra can cause a very serious drop in BP for men with ESRD.

I'll let you know Grumpy, we haven't tried it yet since he started dialysis. I suspect his libido will be effected though. Hoping its not gone completely, but we did find out his testosterone was down several months ago. I think dialysis would remove that even further. I have heard about Viagra causing heart and blood pressure problems and being contraindicated with anyone on center heart medicines. He doesn't take either one.

speaking of low testosterone, is there anything natural, like foods that make it higher? or something besides medication?

A little known fact: When Viagra was first created, it was for bp management. Unexpected side effect changed marketing plan and now you know it as the blue pill.

hey it would be a curious situation, maybe others could self stimulate watching and some folks would be surprised they rose to the occassion. In some centers where folks are older, it could be fun for them....I can see the nurses and techs having a fit trying to get the couple to stop and checking the dialysizers on all the patients as alarms go off....

gothiclovemonkey - you mentioned your BF is afraid to touch you.  Just wondering how D affected your sex drive or desire.

smokingbeaver - you paint a great picture - clinic techs running all over the place to reset alarms, a couple in a chair with a blanket bouncing up and down.   If I ever have to go back to hemo, I think I'll try it - even if the wife and I have to fake it.  Would love to see the reactions.  Grumpy

I went to the dialysis center yesterday while my husband was in the chair to talk to the dietician the first time. Turned out to be nice understanding lady. Didn't learn much that I haven't already found out at this informative site, and what I've found searching the internet and books. She did say my husband can have tangerines, and gave me info on how to soak potatos the night before to cook them for dinner so they have less potassium. She took me in to visit with Jon afterwards. The nephrologist came while I was there. Husbands labs are good, postassium and phosphorous are low. Jon asked him if he should stop taking the potassium pills he has had him taking. He needs more iron and Epogen.  While I was there I also got to talk to the 2 technicians, 2 guys. Didn't see any nurses. I went and got a tech to ask him if I could help my husband pee in a jug. The problem he is having during dialysis is that 4hrs is a long time waiting for it to be done to go pee. With Jon being handicapped, and attached to the machines, its hard for him to do it without help. He is a sit down kind of guy now. So they brought screens and untaped the lines so he could stand. I assisted him, and then we both told them the discussions on here about a couple having sex while in the chair. They thought it would be hilarious!!! So i :yahoo;ts a real relaxed place with people working that have a good sense of humor. The guys enjoy my husband because he jokes around with them. They said they would leave the screens up for us if we wanted to try. :)

 :o I took a good look around yesterday, at the patients at our center.  I am sorry to report, that I DO NOT, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT wish to see any of them having sex, no matter how long I am in that DAMN chair.  I'll watch I Love Lucy and Leave it to Beaver reruns before that.   :puke;

Thanks, but NO THANKS.  and on the other hand, I'm sure they wouldn't want to see me, having sex either.  Now, of course, if they want to bring in some hot young couple, then I'm all up for watching.  But the group that I sit with. . . . I love all of them to death, they are are great group, but I draw the line at watching them having sex.

I can relate to what you said Hazmat, lol. Now if they invited some escort type ladies and "Chippendales" in for entertainment, that could work. The manager at the center near us is young and pretty....
