Chris, WHY oh WHY are you eating like that?????

We had my porkchops with pasta, which was seasoned with olive oil & garlic and oregano and something else. We added broccoli and parmesan/asagio cheese to it. Good!!!!  I love pasta!!
I don't mind not having marinara sauce, now that I know how good pasta can be with other
ingredients!

Are you guys really eating all this stuff?  My phosphate is at 6.5 & I don't even come near to some of the bad things that are being eaten.
You must be taking some binders!  How do you know how much to take?  I just got a free sample of Phos-Lo today.

Thanks

I think many of us take binders. I'm not a doctor, but if your phosphorous is that high, I am very surprised you are not taking them.  Renagel, Tums and Fosrenol are other binder options.  Ask your doctor about them.

Where in that area? I used to work at the Rossville Public Library by the fire station when I was a teenager.  We lived in the Rossville-Ft.Oglethorpe area for a few years, then Mom and Dad moved out to Harrison, TN out by the Lake Chickamaugua.

if your doctor doesn't have you on binders, i'd start looking for a different doctor. i take renegel, it's very pricey, but insurance pays for it. i started out taking 2, had it raised to 4 than as my labs settled out i'm back down to 2. you have to remember to take it with every meal and snack. apple pie 3 hours after dinner should be considered another meal. you need to take your binders. my last phos level was 3.9

and yes we really are eating these things, just not every day

I take 500g calcium carbonate tablets as binders with every meal, one with smaller meals and snacks and two with my big meal of the day.  I regularly read over the list of high phosphorus foods and make sure not to have too many in any one meal.

I made red beans and rice and baked chicken tonight. Plus we had left over smashed potato salad and tomato/basil/mozarella salad.

My ktchen is as hot as all get out. We ate, and now I'm hanging out in my bedroom--the only cool room in the house right now.

Ringgold, Ga,  All right, been there, too! Used to be a nice little town.  I remember taking my driving test in Ringgold, Ga in the square around the DMV.

Yes, just got started.  My initial labs were well within legal territory, then suddenly went way up.  I was given a free sample of Phos-Lo yesterday.
I started dialysis June 7th so everyone is tweaking my meds/dry weight, etc to get me in order, so it is not the doctor's fault.  As of now I feel good, except for the itching, and to think I was blaming the mosquitos!

Thank you for mentioning the doses you take of your meds.  I am forbidden Renegal because of Crohn's disease - it swells up in the gut.
