Oh yeah, sometimes it itches really bad. I usually put lotion, because I think my problem is that the skin gets dried out from all the betadine and alcohol I use. Sometimes it feels like it is itchy from the inside.

Im allergic to most tapes, which I know is the cause of the itchyness, but no one else seems to complain about it. I sometimes scratch the skin until it bleeds. Only thing that slightly helps is removing tape after Dx, having a shower and washing all the sticky off, and putting on some parrafin cream. I wish there was such a thing as itch free tape!

I feel your pain. I also seem to react to any plaster or tape they try use after Dx and it has caused a dry red patch that becomes even more sensitive.
I try to just hold gauze over my exit site until I stop bleeding, but my nurses are not comfortable with me walking out without it being taped up.

I dont like not putting anything on it after Dx as I do get a bit of ooze after its stopped bleeding. It can start bleeding again so I feel safe putting something on it. I usually leave it on most of the day and take it off before bed. Im a bit slack with putting cream on it though.

Ya I think it is from the Chlorhexidine they use on my arm (or something in a bottle). My skin is getting dryer and dryer and only there. I have been putting cream on it lately but man .. sometimes I just want to keep scratching and scratching!!!

I have to use YukiBan because of allergy to the normal white stuff. Just to confuse everyone, they've now changed the color of Yuki' from 'flesh' to white. I also get the 'inside' itching. ....I just stopped typing....to scratch around the fistula!!!

could the "inside itching" be because of reattaching nerves? Or is it high phosphate?

Thanks Bear,
I'm going to see if I can get some of the YukiBan stuff as I seem to be allergic to most plasters and tape.

I use yukiban too, it is better than other tapes, but it still make me itch like crazy. I panicked when I got sent a white box of yukiban, as it looks just like micropore. I didnt touch it until I could confirm it was the same yukiban tape, just a different colour. Apparently any changes in products are supposed to be made known to the Dx unit, but they never are!

Well i dont think its high phosphate because the only place I am itchy is inside near the fistula no where else

Ah yes. So have I been lately. Seems my arm is getting dryer and dryer .. so I do think it is the chlorhexidine in my case (or what ever they use on my arm). What ever it is really has been turning my skin dry and I have to be careful not to scratch off the scabs
