Hi, I'm Henry from Calabasas, CA (near LA). I'm a 60 year old man on dialysis since September 2007. I'm working hard to find a suitable live transplant donor. I'm married for 34 years with two sons 25 and 28. Both my wife and my sister have offered me their kidneys but neither one qualifies. They are both type 2 diabetics. My older son was born with hydronephrosis (blocked ureter) and had surgery at 6 weeks of age. He has partial function in one kidney. With genes like these I couldn't ask my younger son to donate, he will likely have trouble later in life.

Welcome.  I, too, know the frustrations of testing donors.   Both my brothers tested for me in early 2008 and both were good matches.  However, they were denied for medical reasons.  My husband was also a match, but was denied due to a high amount of calcium in his urine.  My sister-in-law (husband's sister) ended up testing and she was accepted and we transplanted on Nov 5th of last year.

AI feel for you.  It's so frustrating.  A friend of mine (75-years-old) had their preacher make an announcement at their church stating he was and O blood type and that he needed a kidney.  Immediately, the same day the announcement was made, a wonderful 32-year-old woman stepped up to the plate and they transplanted one month after me.  Both are doing great!

Get creative.  But until you get your kidney, check in with us regularly and get major support!  You've come to the right place.  We understand!
