I am not sure if anyone else seen The View on Friday , but I did...

The women were talking about the husband that wanted his kidney back from his x wife.

THe ladies thought this was so very very funny, as I sat there in dialysis, I can tell you , I missed the joke...  A few of them even thought that she should give back the kidney... Now this might have been a joke, I would sure hope so, but man o man I was pissed!  Then to top it off the final thing said before I turned off the TV was Joy announcing that "Not just anyone would get her kidney"

SO I fumer, and when I got home I wrote the show, now they give you a box to write the show, with ONLY 250 characters allowed..  I wrote and rewrote till I was happy, I wish I saved a copy , but I didn't...
Basically I told them they were insensitive, and with a huge opportunity to educate, they chose the cheep laugh instead.

Anyhow, maybe I was hype sensitive, maybe not... did anyone else see the show??

Thanks pelagia...  I think you enjoy writing as much as I do  ;D

Another point...    ;D Can you imagine those women or anyone else sitting there if it had something to do with Cancer or any other horriable disease?

Can you picture the jokes if it was ALS or Cancer or soemthing else...  I don't know , but it seems like kidneys are always the butt of the joke, the ole... well you can always "sell" a kidney knee slapper..

My God we need a marketing person to get our stories out there!   :rant;  :shy;

I did not see this show, but you can bet I will
send them a note, also!

So many people watch these damn shows,
those people had a golden opp to really send a
message out, and used it as  fodder for  foolish
talk?  Very disgusting in my book, I think we should
all drop a note to "the View"

Better yet just drop the view....

They speak negatively about a variety of things to get ratings, caring less who they hurt or diminish on there show.

I heard about that story while I was away and the husband has now told his ex-wife that for $2 million she can keep the kidney.  I think the whole thing is disgusting and I don't care what the wife has done, the husband's behaviour is absolutely obscene.  Didn't get the view over here but I am definitely with you Kim.  How disgusting.

I saw the program
My interpretation was that they were taking the "micky" out of the husband
They were "sledging" him for being ridiculous about wanting the kidney back or big bucks

I didn't think they were joking about kidney or organ transplants
I really thought they were trying to discuss that organ donation is  impt and once you "donate" an organ you do not have the right to tell the recipiant what to do or how to live their life

Now I have read other people's perspectives
Interesting

Thats not how I took it at all, I did turn it off after Joy stated that "not just anyone would get her kidney"  but before that they joked that it was his kidney after all so, no marriage.... no kidney.  I would HOPE that they were kidding but where won't you go for a laugh?

Why most men do not watch them  ;D

Have to agree, they had a golden opportunity  (no pun intended)

I would look for more than the box to contact them, they might have a production company to contact if you weave through pages, and then there is whatever channel they are on.

the problem with shows like the view is they don't know anything about kidney disease, nor are they interested in learning. those of us with kidney disease are every bit as sick as someone with cancer, the rest of the world just doesn't think so. i think every program that has ever said anything at all about kidney disease has missed the boat.

i've stopped watching several programs because of the way they talk about or portray various subjects.  er is a prime example. they once had a story line about letting a premature baby die without attempting to save him because he was born 3 months early which according to the story line was too early and nothing they tried would work so they let the family sit with him till it was over. pure BUNK  my oldest grandson, now 9 years old was due december 15 and born september 18. he was everything the tv show described. guess what folks, while he has some problems he is very much alive. there are times i hate tv.
