Mom is back in the hospital again.... She was having EXTREME back pain, to the point she couldn't even sit though 3 hours of dialysis and if she did make it through most of the treatment she cried the whole time in pain. My dad and took her to the ER 2 times in a week and they gave her drugs and sent her home. Last week my dad took her back because none of the meds were working and she would scream and cry at home in pain, we didn't know what to do. ER finally admitted her for pain control, and she has been in the hospital about a week. They have her on all kinds of meds for pain and she is in out of control pain. All the Dr's keep saying that she just has back pain and they have done Xrays, MRI, and CT and nothing is showing up except a inflammed T 12 vertebrate. I really do appreciate the Dr's but this time I almost felt like they think she is just crazy with this back pain, and it cant be that bad. I went and saw her tonight and you could hear her down the hall just balling in pain. I spoke with the nurse because she is on the highest doses of pain meds they can give her. I felt so bad for her,We just feel so helpless seeing her like that. She cant move! Anyway her labs came back and her white blood cells were high, and the dr started her on antibiotics for an infection somewhere. The infectious disease Dr came in and tomorrow is ordering a whole bunch of tests.. Lab cultures,New Xrays,Bone scan, and EKG. He is ruling out Osteomylitis. I have been reading alot about osteomylitis, and she has all the symptoms. She has a blood infection and it sounds like its in her vertebrae thats whats causing her so much pain! I read that its common in dialysis patients. Has anyone dealt with this, or can offer some insight? We will know more tomorrow once the tests are back. We really just want answers so she can feel better like she normally does!
