My Husband was admitted to the Hospital, Six Days Ago, with Pneumonia. They are pumping Him full of Antibiotics and He is on Oxygen, 24/7. They have Him in a Large Hospital in a Major City, where they can continue His Dialysis. I'm getting frustrated, because, with Him being out of the Room, every other Day for Dialysis, I seem to keep missing the Doctors. My Husband seems very Depressed. I know that Pneumonia in Dialysis Patients is common, but He was never a Large Man and now His Weight is down to 105 LBs. This Site has helped me so much in the last Year, since His Kidney Failure occured. Please Keep my Family in Your Thoughts and Prayers.

 :grouphug; I am very sorry to hear this news.  I remember from your other posts that your husband is a fighter and that he has pulled through difficult times before.  I hope that with your support he will gain his strength again and be able to go home soon.  Hang in there Mizar.  :cuddle;

It is hard when you keep missing the doctors and he is gone for dialysis and tests all of the time.  Think about doing a round the clock vigil till someone talks to you?

Mizar,
trust that you're husband's recovery will be on special mention in our prayers tonight at the Blessed Sacrament novena.

I wonder if your Neph goes to the dialysis center (same place hospital right?) if on the time of his (neph) rounds, your husband is not in his room.
Can you make that demand out there as we do it here in the Phils.? everytime Nanay is in the hospital, i always leave a note at the nurses station that the neph must go visit us at the dialysis section when we are not in room, as I need to consult with him, and the Neph always does. It's tough because at the hospital they only do one round in a day, and i really hate missing the neph since we pay them a lot.

love,
cris

Mizar,
i got quite concerned when you said pneumonia and you're not finding the doctor. I would like to let you know about our experienced with pneumonia, since this had been the most pestering ailment of Nanay aside from osteoporosis.
First, her lung specialist tried to find out if the pneumonia was caused by fluid retention, if it is you will hear gurgling sound when you put a stethoscope on his back and lower torso, the lung doctor said there are different kinds of pneumonia, pleural, cracking of lungs, and blood clotting. This has to be define in order to get the proper treatment and antibiotics for each. Her sputum was cultured and lab test done regularly. She was on nebulizer 2x a day. Back clapping really helps to breakdown the mucus. Nanay was also on oxygen 24 hrs. to ease up the breathing and whew, oxygen intake is metered in the hospital that accounted for almost half of our bill, it was so expensive. Nanay also experienced the drying/cracking up of lungs cuz of too much pulling out of fluid. Hope this can help or guide you in discussing with your doctor. We just finish our Blessed Sacrament novena, we prayed for him, i was about to sleep but your husband's situation keeps bugging me.
Please take care of yourself too.

love,
cris

Hi Mizar.

Hang in there darling.  I don't know how many times my Dad got pneumonia - I have had it as well - and he always pulled through.  They do overdose you with antibiotics which can be a bit depressing in itself until you start feeling a bit better.  My Dad always use to say that dialysis seemed to drain him twice as much when he was sick with pneumonia.  He also couldn't eat much so he lost quite a bit of weight but he always bounced back.  It took a couple of weeks but I always remember the days when he first started to feel better and the depression lifted straight away because he realised he was on the mend.  My love and thoughts to you both.
