I'm sorry you have to sit next to someone so unpredictable. Just a suggestion..... What about turning it into a challenge for yourself? Almost every day last summer when I walked my dogs through the park, I'd see the same grumpy-looking woman walking, too. It always looked like she was taking extra care to go waaayyyy around my dogs. I respect other peoples' rights not to like dogs, so I always make sure to keep my dogs close to me when we passed by her. I'd also take extra care to smile at her and tell her "hi!" It was a challenge for me to see if I could get a sign of happiness from her. Towards the end of summer, she commented that Bella's ear was flipped inside out and it bothered her. By the end of fall when I had to stop going to the park for the winter, she was telling me "hi," I learned she has a dog at home herself, and she stopped to pet Bella for a long time. I think my point is that killing someone with kindness can resolve a lot of interpersonal problems.

Joan has a lot to deal handle with sex-change issues on top of dialysis and other medical problems. No, it isn't fair that she's taking it out on you, but we all know life isnt fair.

However, rant away! This is the right place for that!

Rerun,  I have the funniest sex change story, WAY off topic, from when I was in Nursing school.  I'll send it sometime.  :rofl;

Rerun, are you telling us that a Conservative can't be tolerant? As a LLL(life-long liberal) I'm tolerant enough to
think better of you people. Wink, Wink. Steve

My "Bad Dialysis Neighbor" Award goes to:

Me.

Because I know I haven't been the best social company at the dialysis center.  I'm still depressed and still angry and still upset over my diagnosis of ESRD (which came like the proverbial bolt out of the blue in September), and my being consigned to in-center dialysis.  I'm the one who has raised his voice, and who has alternated between sorrow and anger while being dialyzed.  I've even yelled at my social worker.  I just can't plaster on that faux smile that the other dialysis patients put on.  I've just been in a very dark mood since October 28, the day they stuck that HD catheter into me for the first time.

So if you polled the other folks at the dialysis center, you would find that I'm the one they would just love to get rid of.  One guy told me not to yell at the staff.  I retorted, "Do you work here?"

Tonight, my dialysis nurse made a real Freudian slip.   I mentioned to her (for the umpteenth time) how much I hate the HD catheter.  She replied, "It's keeping you alive--unfortunately."

Rightside- You are depressed.  Clinically depressed, See a counselor.  You are not just sick  with ESRD, you are also dealing with trauma.  Get some help, you will not pull out by yourself.

Speak in English Steve.  What are you asking me?  The LIB is the one yelling at me.  She is a "you people".  As far as the transvestite, I'm tolerant as long as she keeps her business to herself.  The staff has seen her jacking off under the covers.  I hope someone tells her that it will be cut off soon.  Yeah, I am a Conservative and think people should think more of themselves.  You Libs think anything goes.

I need to say something here.  I have no labels for myself.  I try to be tolerant because I want to be tolerated and I am unaware of having been appointed judge of anyone.

However, being tolerant does not remotely mean that anything goes.  If any patient, straight, gay, transgendered or whatever is "jacking off" under the covers, that is inappropriate to the time and place and disrespectful of other people.  Period.  The person needs to be spoken to and strongly.

Being conservative in no way means that one isn't tolerant and being liberal does not mean that anything goes.

I know you were teasing, Steve, and Rerun, I would not want to sit beside anyone playing with him/her self at dialysis.  Rude is rude.

Ewww. She did what??? And she is a transsexual not a transvestite. A transvestite does not want to be a different gender, they just like dressing that way. A transsexual believes they were born in the wrong body.
