Me and the boys

« on: November 21, 2008, 06:24:36 PM »

For those who asked about me thanks i am sorry i didnt answer you all personally but so much has been going on..As some may recall my 39 yr old brother died suddenly and i have been having hard time..i had to have surgery for cancer and had tumor removed late july ..i FINAlly found a dr who would take out my pd catheter which has not worked from day one..When he removed he had to have major surgery because his words 'it was put in totally wrong' but he put new one in and seems to be working..i should be able to do from home in few wks..The dialysis center i go to one of the nurse was screaming at me becuase i brought to office mgr that she (although i never named names) would work on patient to patient without changing her gloves ..Well she was so nasty i asked her to walk away (i was on the machine) she stayed there and made such a fool of herself ..i reported her and they said she was spoken too and if happens again they will put in her file omg..i would think that one occurance should be means for dismissal.then she never apologized and was just asked not to come near me..i still see her doing things (no mask or not changing gloves) but reporting is obviously useless.. Then since day one on dialyssi i would throw up about 15-20 mins after being on..i finally got them to understand i am allergic to heparin..Well now pd is stating and the nurse practioner told me heparin does not get absorbed in stomach so it is fine.. Well each flush about 1 -2hrs after i get flu like symtoms and begin getting chills and sick..i can not go on like this ..i am allergic they wouldnt give a peanut to someone with peanut allergy why do they go on like this. i spoke to dr today and he told me in 20yr he never had this so he doesnt know what to do..i will clot the catheter and it will be useless without heparin (totally making me feel like it is my fault) WEll that is where i am thanks for the vent ;)

That is total b**l S**t, being allergic to heparin can happen. I for example am I do not get heparin I have to take coumidin for my blood to not clot the machine and I run with what they call citrasate bath. so your Dr. and clinic need to know this and get you off of it...Boxman

So glad you checked back in with us.  sorry to hear about what you have to go through.  If there is one thing that IHD teaches is that we have to get involved in our own treatment and not allow the 'professional' to get away with sub-standard treatment.  We have to stand up for ourselves.
Please keep on posting and let us know how you are doing. :cuddle;

Piglet,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your brother and your surgery. As for the dialysis center go over their heads and call someone else. That person is/or can contaminate others. You are your advocate! Hang in their and stay strong!!!

Me and the boys

« Reply #16 on: November 24, 2008, 04:59:50 PM »

Thanks everyone for kind words..
Well I just got off the phone with the COO of the clinic (Chief Operations Officer) because the tech today was once again unprofessional..everyday out of 12-15windows they open the blinds that make the sun hit me directly in face ..(for past few weeks I asked nicely for them not to do it) but today I didnt feel good I go in at 5am just finally fell asleep around 6ish and they did it...I asked her to close it again and she laughs like a little school girl and goes and giggles with the other tech..Then she keeps making comments Oh look washing my hands,,yep got my gloves on..just very uncomfortable experience and I officially had it with her ..
the COO seemed very concerned and said truthfully that is means for dismissal of job but she will look into it tomorrow and call me back by tomorrow evening..I said I would hate for someone to lose their job esp around holiday but I can take the antagonizing anymore.. I didnt even go last Fri because I just didnt want to deal with it ..(thankfully in 5 days I only gained .6 :)

Be sure to have your center check their stock of Heparin http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/heparin/default.htm

Serious injuries and deaths have been associated with the use of heparin, a blood-thinning drug that contained active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) from China. The adverse events have included allergic or hypersensitivity-type reactions, with symptoms such as low blood pressure, angioedema, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

That is awful, 7piglets especially when she laughed like a little school girl, that tells me she knew EXACTLY what the hell she was doing!   Please let us know how things work out, OK?   Oh, would it be possible for you to go to another clinic if they decide to keep her anyways?
