Life is great!

« on: October 05, 2008, 05:04:11 AM »

My aunt died this time two years ago from renal failure, my Dad died exactly this time last year from renal failure and my auntie (another of his sisters) died this morning from renal failure.  Brings a whole new meaning to hereditary disease. It gets depressing that so many members of my family have died from renal failure.  I am the only one left with it now.  With our type of renal problem, our family has really bad heart and vascular problems as well - probably more than most with this disease.  As much as it is really sad, I am still going to wake up in the morning to a new day and while I keep waking up every day, I am going to cherish every minute.  Last year I had to cancel my trip to Vegas to meet you all because my father died but this year I am still going to go to Italy on Saturday as planned.  I am not being cold-hearted about it, it is just that our family has been touched by so much death over the past few years that I am becoming a bit emotionally shattered and after the funeral I will be just happy to fly away from all the sadness.  Is that selfish?  I would like to think none of my family will judge me for making that decision.

Lucinda, so sorry to hear of your Aunts passing. And ,to answer your question about being selfish, you've answered it yourself - cherish every minute of your life. Go to Italy and try to enjoy, God knows, life will be there when you return. My sympathies to you and your family.  :cuddle;

I am so sorry, Lucinda.   As we have all learned, today is the day--don't wait for tomorrow.  Enjoy your trip.  Your family will understand.  Celebrate your Aunt's life by living.  You will honor her memory by living the best life you can.   Prayers for all your family during this difficult time.  :grouphug;

Thanks everyone.   I am feeling much better today.  New day and all.  The funeral will be on Thursday and then I leave on Saturday so the timing works. I agree, hope that is the end of the losses for a while too as I am the only one left with the problem now!!!  I'll be in touch from Italy and I will post some pics along the way.  xxx

I don't know whether you have any beliefs in religion, God or spirituality, and forgive me for being so forthright in my opinion, but I'd like to think that your family members that have passed would be so proud of you right now with what seems like your unshakeable love of life.  You are an inspiration to me and I'm sure no one on this website would begrudge you a little happiness after what has been such a tough time for you.

Love from across the pond,
