Today when I got home from work I had a voicemail from a nurse at UltraCare (Fresenius) saying she is my "extra" nurse and she'd call back at another time.
Now this person isn't even from my state according to the caller-id.  My mom asked me what it was all about, and I don't have a clue!  Does anyone else have an "extra" nurse?

I went to the open house last week at the new Fresenius center here. Ultracare is some kind of new program they have that is supposed to improve individual patient care. The new center was impressive but I thought the chairs were too close together with a total lack of privacy.

Sound fishy--especially since contact by staff outside of treatment hours is strongly discouraged.  I've never gotten, or heard of anyone getting a call that, and I've been doing this for quite awhile.

Being an employee at a Fresenius clinic I would agree that that sounds very strange indeed.  I have never heard of an "Extra" nurse before, especially someone from out of state.  I might be able to understand it if you did one of the home therapies but not in center.  I would ask the clinic about it myself to see if they know anything about it.

By the way, the caller ID did say Fresenius.  So I know it's not some random person.  I guess I'll see if she calls back...she did leave her number though.

Could be a Fresenius RN Case Manager.  When I was an HMO member, they assigned all renal patients a Case Manager who could help field problems and assist in coordinating appointments, etc and just generally check on how you are doing on a regular basis. That case manager called me on a regular basis outside of clinic hours.  Now on Medicare, have been contacted by an RN connected with the insurance company taking care of my Medicare that I think is doing the same thing. I didn't complete the paperwork to give her permission to contact me as I felt that enough people are already involved in my care!!
