I'm looking for some sort of energy (or even protien) bar that is low in Potassium, Phosphurus, and Sodium.   I can usually find one with lower numbers in two of the three cats (usually lower potassium and sodium) but nothing with phos even listed (and my phos is regularlly higher than it should be)

Has anybody out there happened to find something that works for them?

Thanks in advance,
Chris

I like the Zone Perfect bars for an extra protein snack each day.  They come in several flavors and some have less phosphorus/potassium than others.  They just came out with three different Dark Chocolate bars, and I think they taste pretty good.  Here is a short list:

                                        Protein          PO4                 K           Na
Cinnamon Roll                       15 g         150 mg           55 mg     220 mg
Dark Chocolate Strawberry     12 g         150 mg         140 mg     170 mg
Double Dark Chocolate           12 g         150 mg         160 mg     190 mg

I find that a lot of the other protein bars you have to chew and chew and chew.  And then need some water to wash them down.  These are more crunchy and a bit lighter.  The almost 1g:10mg ratio of protein to phosphorus is very good.  One PhosLo or two Renagel tablets.

Also these Zone bars don't use any sugar alcohol sweeteners (Sorbitol, Maltitol, Xylitol), which can give a person a lot of gas and even the runs.

There is a protein powder available that a lot of nephrologists recommend. You just add it to your food or drink. I forget the name but I can look it up if anyone is interested.

Met-Rx Protein Plus or Pure Protein both are high in protein and low in phosphorus, potassium and sugar. Body Fortress protein powder they made cupcakes with the powder and Otto said they are REALLY good. Also Zone perfect bars, South beach High protein cereal bars but they are high in phosphorus and sugar. Hope that helps Otto just brought home some stuff from D yesterday and they said we can get them at Target, He needs more protein so I'm getting the powder because you can add it to anything and the food still taste good.

I have used the Body Fortress Powder before...but just to make drinks, nothing special.  (Like Cupcakes?!?!?) But I was looking for some bars just so I could cut my fluids just a little bit.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I also have problems w/my albumin.  Meat pretty much grosses me out but I try to at least eat some turkey and canned tuna and salmon.
And I have trouble w/phosphorous...  These are great for me.  I find them at the grocery store (Cub) in the supplement section.

Power Bar has a new product:  Protein Plus - Reduced Sugar

     Calories    275
     Sat Fat     4 gr
     Sodium    290 mg
     Total Carbs   30 g
        Dietary Fiber   2 G
        Sugar            1G
        Sugar Alcohol  26G
     Protein  22G
Phosphorous  10% MDR (I don't know how to translate to grams, but 10% is one of the lowest I've seen)
     Postassium     0  (Zero)

My favorite are Balance Bars.. cookie dough flavor.. they aren't huge, but they feel me up for a couple hours (and i have a gargantuan appetite).  These are the only bars that don't make me thirsty or my mouth feel pasty afterwords.  Here is the nutritional low down

Calories: 200
Sodium 200mg
Potassium 110mg
Carbs 21g
Protein 15g
Vitamin A 50%
Phosphorus 15%
Vitamin C 100%

There a lot of other vitamins/minerals, but I just highlighted a few.

My dietitian gave me some Protein ex drink that comes in a small bottle you dilute in some sort of juice.
Calories 72
Sodium 5mg
Potassium 5mg
Carbs 0g
Protein 18g
Phosphorus 0g

Hope that helps!

Trader Joes ($1/bar or $15 for a pack of 15) and Target ($5 for 6 bars) have the cheapest I can find...   :thumbup;
