A Lufkin, Texas, dialysis center closed since April following an increase in deaths and life-threatening complications will reopen on Wednesday after getting clearance from the state to resume operations.
A former DaVita facility nurse has been accused of intentionally injecting two patients with bleach. The patients survived. Kimberly Clark Saenz of Pollok faces prosecution on aggravated assault charges.
A spokesman for the Department of State Health Services said the facility will be monitored and will gradually build up the number of patients.
Most details of the center's deficiencies were blacked out in documents obtained by the Lufkin Daily News through an open records request. The number of patient deaths under review has not been released.
