I recently went to a dermatologist because of persistant redness and itching on my arm due to a bad infiltration about 6 weeks ago. He gave me Fluocinonide Ointment and a dosepak of a steroid called Medrol (methylprednisolone). Now, not only is my arm healed, but I'm feeling really awesome. I've got energy and stamina that I haven't had in ages. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this experience with steroids.

I'm sure the moonshine helps but it doesn't hold a candle to this stuff.

I was on the steroid prednisone for 7 months. Yes, It had me amped all the time. I could hardly sleep at night and would get up at 5 am.
Very high doses at first, then tapered down because it can cause horrible withdrawals when taken for long periods. (Yes, I had withdrawals).
I hated it. Swore I would never use it again.Gave me "roid rage" and made me very ugly too.Don't worry, you won't have this problem on the short dosage
and type that you are on. Do something worthwhile with the energy while it lasts.

I've been scratching my arm like crazy all day just trying to get the redness and itching back so I can get another Rx. This is good stuff.

Hey, whatever works! I'm glad you're feeling better! I tend to get hot flashes and roid rage on steroids. ;)

That kidney failed in 2004 and I've been back on PD ever since. I am undergoing treatment for my high antibodies at Cedars-Sinai medical center. I had a kidney transplant on June 10, 2008. My boyfriend was the donor.

On about the third day, I mowed the yard (3 1/2 acres) and plowed the garden. I know it will end soon but I have really enjoyed the ride.

Unfortunately they can only be taken briefly because the long term effects are not good. I've been off them for a while now and back to the same old feeling. It was fun while it lasted.

At least you got your lawn mowed. It'll be time to mow it again soon, though.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could have that much energy on a regular basis?

Yuck, I hate Prednisone!  Since tx I have been on 30 mg a day.  They will lower me to 10mg on Monday.  I can't wait.  The only energy it gives me is the energy to walk over to the fridge and find something to eat  >:(  I makes me so dang hungry all the time.  I wish it gave me energy.

Glad it has a better effect on you though....  :2thumbsup;

Donnia,
When I was on prednisone my face ballooned up and my belly ballooned up. I had managed to have two children with no stretch marks, yet the darn
prednisone ballooned my abdomen up so much, that I got stretch marks from it. I never looked in the mirror because I didn't look like me at all.
When I tapered down, I finally started looking better and my apatite went back to normal. You'll feel better too once they taper down the prednisone.
Maybe you'll even end up with the enregy surge Flip talked about.
