Has anyone here had Lap Band surgery for obesity while on dialysis?  I qualify for transplant in every category except weight.  They worry about infection, which is more common with morbidly obese patients.  I just met with a surgeon who says I'd be a "high risk" candidate for Lap Band surgery.  On the other hand, she says it would be nearly impossible for me to drop enough weight the conventional way.  Has anyone here had a similar situation?

How much weight do you need to lose?  At my transplant clinic where I used to go there was a girl who was about 300 lbs who got a transplant.  I was 179 when I got my transplant.  And I'm 5'8.  I lost weight after my transplant for a while too then I gained some.  Now I want to lose weight also about 30-40 lbs.  How much overweight do you have to be to get a lapband???  I thought it was a pretty simple procedure unlike the more invasive stomach stapling surgery.  I actually know of a woman who was short of 40 lbs to get this surgery done so she made herself gain the 40 plus some to get the surgery.  She ended up losing 110 lbs.
