:'( My friend was denied as a donor something wrong with her bladder? anyway still waiting to hear about my mom.
Haven't been on since I started working. Doing well been in the hosp. once for infection which turned out not to be an infection. Crazy :urcrazy; anyway I like this site it brings me up when I'm feeling down and think I am alone in this Thanks everyone for posting and keeping us encouraged

Hey Mel, sorry about your friend being turned down as a donor. Keeping fingers crossed that your mom will be a match!

Pyelonephritis (began at 8 mos old)
Home haemo 1980-1985 (self-cannulated with 15 gauge sharps)
Cadaveric transplant 1985
New upper-arm fistula April 2008
Uldall-Cook catheter inserted May 2008
Haemo-dialysis, self care unit June 2008
(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

I'm really sorry to hear your friend was ruled out as a donor. I've had several people ruled out as donors and it is always a disappointment. Hang in there!

I have Alport's Syndrome. My kidneys failed when I was 14 and I was on PD for five years before receiving a kidney transplant from my mother. That kidney failed in 2004 and I've been back on PD ever since. I am undergoing treatment for my high antibodies at Cedars-Sinai medical center. I had a kidney transplant on June 10, 2008. My boyfriend was the donor.
