Got Bone Pain?

When I was at the doctor today reviewing my labs  they asked if I was having bone pains from the increase in my phosphorus level this month.  Bone pain?  This is my first elevated phosphorus reading, but I'd never heard that bone pain was something I should watch for as a sign. 

Has anyone experienced this?  What does it feel like?

Yes, bone pain is HORRIBLE!!!! I have it for one major reason, but I did notice it ALOT when my phosphorus was elevated until my para's were removed. What does it feel like? Hell. It's is very sharp pains, like a stabbing pain.

      It is a very achy feeling that goes through your body like nothing else. For me, my hips and bones had the most pain. You probably know how muscle pain and joint pain feels. Bone pain is a different sensation and feels like it is actually coming from within your bones. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Thankfully, mine was only the result of tapering off high prednisone treatment and thus lasted only a couple of months.

Hi, I'm a Newbie but already have a question and wondering if it's been experienced by others.  I've had a problem with my phosphorus level for at least a year.  (I take Renagel for the phos levels.)  During that time I've also had a lot of pain thru my teeth, generally top and bottom, but more so in the lower jaw.  It started as more severe temp sensitivity and progressed to serious aching usually near bedtime.  I always had some temperature sensitivity when eating cold/hot foods, but nothing like this.  I have a hard time eating anything not near room temp.  The constant aching though usually happens late in the day or around bedtime, and doesn't result from eating.  It's just a terrible ache throughout my teeth/jaw.  Last night was a bad one again.  I took Tylenol which has usually given me some relief, but it was after 3 am before it finally eased and I got to sleep.  I had a dental check for my pre-transplant testing in Sept. 07, and no problems were found.  He just suggested toothpaste for sensitivity which I've been using.  After reading some of the posts, I'm wondering if this could be a result of the bone pain due to my high phosphorus level.  I do have some minor joint pain (primarily shoulders) which I attributed to shingles which I had this summer, and arthritis due to getting older.   Has anyone else with high phos levels experienced this severe teeth/jaw aching?

Man, Cincy. I had just started having that jaw pain. So THAT is what it is?  It HURTS.

I've not had teeth/jaw pain yet.  I use to have sensitive teeth and my dentist told me to quit chewing gum and it quit.  Do you grind your teeth at night?

I get that in my knees when my phos is really high.  Nothing makes it go away once it starts - you just have to wait it out.

Maybe that is why my jaw hurts,too.  But then the jaw pain may be a sign of heart problems. Get it checked out quickly.

I talked to the dietician at dialysis last night about the teeth/jaw pain and while she wasn't familiar with it, said high phos could be the problem as well as losing calcium.  She mentioned the heart possibility but think that's ruled out because I got an excellent heart check in Nov. 07 as part of my transplant testing.  Until I hear something different, think I just need to work on lowering my phos number.

When I was on dialysis as a child, I used to get terrible aches all over my body. I was 6 or 7 years old at the time, and my parents always said it was growing pains. They didn't have binders back then, so I wonder if maybe it could have been the bone pain you're referring to? I still remember how bad it hurt, and that was over 25 years ago.
