Me with Baron von Fresenius

« on: October 23, 2007, 01:45:16 PM »

Well, my graft seems to have clotted again, so I'm scheduled to go in to the kidney institute tomorrow to have a catheter put in. I hate catheters but at least I'll be able to safely dialyze until my graft can be revised. I have a consultation from my vascular surgeon a week from tomorrow, and hopefully he will schedule the procedure soon after that. Oh boy this really sucks needles.

Adam,
So sorry to hear of your graft problem.  I hope
it will be OK for you, and that there will be
no more problems with it.
Darn access-  just makes all of this so much more
frustrating

Well crap, crap, crap.  That sucks for you.

I wish you well and a speedy vascular access.

That's awful, Adam, but yes, it is about what you expected.   :(  Let's hope you get a great new access after all of this.  :2thumbsup;  Remember, if you don't like what the vascular surgeon says, get a second opinion.

I like the "juice box" costume idea.   ;D  Ought to be good for a first place win.

The catheter is in, and I just finished dialyzing. It hurts a lot right now, and I'm having a little bit of bleeding from the exit site, but I'm not too concerned because that's not that uncommon. When I first started my treatment, I was getting alarms out the wazoo, but I reversed my lines and didn't get a single alarm after that. I hate this thing, but hopefully I'll only need to use it for no more than a month.

I'm so glad it working (somewhat) okay for you Adam. I get mine tomorrow but only have to use it for a couple of weeks til my catheter (PD) heals.  Did you get anything for the pain afterwards?

Sorry about the struggles Adam. Good luck with the cath and, as lame as it sounds, hang in there.
