I (with great help from some people who care) am putting together a web site and a non-profit with the purpose of raising awareness for the importance of organ and tissue donation.  Since IHD is such a wonderful resource in so many ways I would like to include all members in my efforts.  Please post ANY comments, suggestions, or helpful information with regard to this cause in this thread.  I would like to build the best possible site I can and with your help I am confident that goal will be reached.

Here is a link for the site in it's infancy.  Take a look and lets get started.    http://organdonorawareness.org/index4.html

Thanks, George

Suggestion:
On the home page it says:
    * Organs and tissues from a single donor can be used to benefit more than 50 people
That should probably say "non-living donor"
The next point could be:
    * Living donors can be evaluated to help a friend, family member or even donate anonymously to patients on the wait list.

Thanks Karol.  http://organdonorawareness.org/index4.html

Any suggestions are welcome from anyone, something you would like to see, something you would do differently, ways to make the site exciting and full of life and love.

This probably wouldnt apply to your site.

The kidney community needs to get together and make a push towards various manufacturers.

Kinda like how manufactures have jumped on board to brand their products pink for breast cancer, do it in green for organ donation during organ donation awareness month and donate a portion of their sales to organ awareness and funding for future treatment research.

George, this is very minor, but since the internet is international, in the first part where you say, "Did you know?" you may want to add that these numbers are in the US. Also, note the dates that the numbers are effective, since the number on the waiting list changes daily.

Great idea, btw! Thank you so much for doing it! When it's ready to go public, let us know, I'll add it to my email sigs!
