Ask to many questions and very inform about their health.  Even the dietician.

They are always in hurry for the next patient or the next thing to do on the list.

They prefer patients to just sit there and take whatever messages come their ways.  Why they.........%%$#%^$%%%*^&^*(&*^^

What do you guys think?

Not all of them, but yes, a lot of them think like that.  Ask questions anyhow.  Be a pain in the....   They like to talk about the patient being in charge of the "health care team", but they don't cope so well with the idea that they are supposed to be helping us, not ordering us around.

yep- its a real powertrip for some- but not all- who cares what they think- make them stop and answer whatever questions you have- we insist- then ignore their moodiness- it isn't their health, and my husband isn't going to pay the price for their crabbiness.

That is why doctors, nurses, dentists, even hygenists, and assistants don't like me since I ask a lot of questions and they know I read a lot on these subjects.......

I don't have that problem.  But I'm gonna rip the head off the next one that hands me a test result with smiley faces and stickers on it.   ;D

Didn't someone post one time about milkshake flash cards or something to that affect being used as an educational tool in a unit?  It seems that dialysis patients are assumed by some of the medical community to be either slow or completely out of it.  That isn't really fair to the many patients who other than having lousy kidneys are as with it as anyone else.

Those are good reasons along with many others to just do it at home if you can.

I wish that option had been available when I was on dialysis because I would have taken it for sure.

I am on the third shift so i get nurses and techs that are tired. On a rare occasion i will get a question answered. There have been times where i have taped myself up. When they change over they run around like crazy to get everyone hooked up. I am the kind of person that asks allot of questions.

i am a 51 year old male on dialysis for 3 years now. This is my second time. My brother donated a kidney to me about 13 years ago. I found this site on another site. I had to laugh when i saw what it was called. I hope to meet people from all over to talk about dialysis.

I say ask the questions anyway. It is your life and you are in charge of it.
