Me with Baron von Fresenius

« on: May 18, 2007, 11:58:20 AM »

I just had the surgery to put in my new permanent access. My vein and artery were too small to attempt another fistula, so I have a graft. I'm glad that it will be usable sooner, and at least it's better than the catheter. If any of you self-cannulate with a graft, are there any specific issues I should know about? I've heard it's actually easier to cannulate a graft than a fistula. I can actually hear the bruit without a stethoscope, and to me it sounds like a slow moving steam locomotive. Take care.

Hey Adam That great news I don't know much about grafts, but I'm in training with an lady and she has one and she was canulating herself 3 days after she started it looks bigger and more visible than my fistula and i suppose that makes it easier to stick, I'm still not doing myself :banghead;
