Sometime in October my Renvela prescription was filled by my insurance company pharmacy with sevelamer carbonate a generic of Renvella. This week I received a letter stating that sevelamer was being dropped from the list of drugs they would cover in 2018. Since it’s only three weeks till 2018 I was quite annoyed. I looked on GoodRx and found that the price was the same for Renvela and for the generic. Very expensive so I called the Insurance company and began yell, I was having a good time. When the agent told me while sevelamer was not on the list Renvela was and I would need to have prescriptions issued for Renvela. I was stunned after the call ended it hit me if the price was the same why not use Renvela and the insurance company puts pressure on the generic manufacturer to lower prices. Weird but true,
